About the Ceramics Club

Who We Are

The Ceramics Club is a diverse group of Sun City residents brought together by a shared passion for creating three-dimensional art from clay. Members range from beginners to highly experienced ceramic artists with many years of practice. We enjoy being part of a welcoming community where members are eager to share their knowledge, insight, and skills.

What We Do

Members create both functional and decorative pieces using a variety of techniques. The three main methods practiced in the studio are slip casting with molds, hand building, and throwing on a potter’s wheel. We have fun while learning, creating individually and together, and building friendships with others who appreciate the art of working with clay. We also enjoy periodic training sessions led by fellow members, local artists, and instructional videos.

When We Are Open

The studio is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Where We Are Located

The Sun City Ceramics Studio is located on Studio Row in the Mountain View Clubhouse, alongside the Fine Arts and Stained Glass studios. Our studio features a large selection of molds, four potter’s wheels, a clay slab machine for hand building, a store with tools and supplies, and three state-of-the-art electric kilns.

How to Become a Member

Individuals must live in Dell Webb Sun City Palm Desert and have a valid Sun City Association Card. Prospective members must complete a Sun City Palm Desert Ceramics Club Membership Application, available in the studio at the long table in the clipboard rack or online. Completed applications should be brought to the studio along with payment.

New Members Orientation

All new members are required to attend a New Members Orientation, where they will be introduced to the club and its rules. New members will be contacted with the date and time of the next orientation class.
